"At its thirty-first session (Geneva, 11–13 December 2012), the Executive Body to the Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution adopted a guidance document on preventing and abating ammonia emissions from agricultural sources, and decided that it would be the guidance document referred to in article 3, paragraph 8 (b), and paragraph 6, annex IX, to the of the 1999 Protocol to Abate Acidification, Eutrophication and Groundlevel Ozone (Gothenburg Protocol), as amended (ECE/EB.AIR/113/Add.1, decision 2012/11). The adopted guidance document set out herein has been prepared to assist Parties in applying, where appropriate, best available techniques for preventing and reducing ammonia emissions, in particular to reduce ammonia emissions from significant sources of ammonia. It also sets out low-emission slurry application techniques to be used, as applicable, taking local soil and geomorphological conditions, slurry type and farm structure into account."
