The Metropolitan Area of Monterrey, with its significant commercial and industrial activities, faces public health and environmental challenges due to high PM2.5 levels from various sources such as industrial emissions and vehicle exhaust. Recent enhancements in the air monitoring system have increased the number of monitoring stations to 13, allowing continuous PM2.5 monitoring. A winter study identified key contributors to PM2.5, including vehicle emissions (24.1%) and industrial processes, leading to recommendations for reducing emissions through targeted public policies and air quality programs.
