Official Mexican Standard NOM-015 Semarnat/AGRICULTURE-2023

The purpose of this standard is to establish the technical specifications for the use of fire in forest and agricultural lands. Those intending to use fire must:

• Submit the “Notice of use of fire” (Appendix A, Normative of NOM-015) to your municipality.
• Use fire only when there are no fires within a 10 km radius.
• Do not carry out simultaneous burning on neighboring land.
• Verify the existence of a municipal, ejido or communal burning schedule.
• Notify the neighbors of the land before carrying out the burning.
