Many methane mitigating practices have been developed for the rice sector, but can increase N₂O emissions when water-saving practices are mismanaged, highlighting the need for integrated mitigation strategies. Digital rice services, including mobile advisory apps, Internet of Things (IoT) irrigation tools, and digital MRV platforms, are emerging as critical enablers of climate action. By combining farmer data, satellite imagery, and AI analytics, digital rice services can reduce emissions while improving rice yields and farmer resilience.
