According to health research and the World Health Organization (WHO), air pollution levels in urban areas are found to be harmful for human well-being, leading to 3 million premature death annually. Communities around the globe are already mobilized in order to improve air quality in cities and thereby also improve to human health. An important factor for taking well-informed actions is to use collaborative systems for measuring and mapping air quality, which at the same time helps to bring topic to wider audience and policy makers. However, we so far lack more coordinated action. To address this issue, the policy brief at hand presents a framework for organizing a yearly European Clean Air Day, starting from 20th June 2019. It shows how to set an agenda and financing for the development of grassroots movements in Europe to make air quality better and lower influence of air pollution on climate change.
