Policy brief: Recommendations to contribute to sustainable livestock production in the region of the Central American Integration System countries

Countries' interest in developing a livestock sector that boosts economic and social growth, with a focus on environmental sustainability, has motivated actions to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to climate change. Although some countries have already incorporated sustainable livestock farming into their national policies, it is essential to strengthen the synergy between this sector and environmental protection. After analyzing the policy instruments available, the practices implemented and technological advances in the region, this document proposes lines of action so that, at the regional level and through collaboration and alliances, significant progress can be made toward low-emission livestock production.
