Exposure to air pollutants is associated with an increase in respiratory diseases, more frequently in the susceptible population (children, older adults, pregnant women, and people with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases).

#KnowYourNumber (#conoceTuNumero) is the scale that reflects the health risks associated with air pollution levels and provides messages that serve as a guide to stay healthy and avoid exposure to pollution levels that impact your health.

The methodology for calculating #KnowYourNumber is derived from a project carried out by SEDEMA and the Marron Institute of New York, using information from the Atmospheric Monitoring System (SIMAT) and hospital admission data from the Mexico City Health Department. The calculation uses information from the air quality forecast system for today and tomorrow.

More information about the methodology is available here.

This index is complementary to the current air quality index.
