Central African Republic - Delivering a national methane emission and mitigation assessments for the waste sector [CF-22-004] Share SHARE Facebook share Twitter LinkedIn Copy URL Email Breadcrumb Home Central African Republic - Delivering a National Methane Emission and Mitigation Assessments For The Waste Sector [CF-22-004] Opening Date: 6 December 2022 Closing Date: 31 January 2023 Estimated project cost: USD 80,000 Overview This project responds to a request by the Central African Republic’s (CAR’s) Ministry in Charge of Environment and Sustainable Development to deliver a national methane emission and mitigation assessments for the waste sector. Expected project outcomes Through the proposed outputs and activities, the project should achieve the following by its completion: CAR’s government has increased capacity to account for and address methane from the waste sector Minimum required outputs The project should deliver at a minimum: Develop or update/revise a national methane inventory Refine methodologies for the waste sector, which would include those used for Data collection and preparation Calculation of GHG inventory Capacity building on waste sector inventory development to representatives of relevant government agencies, national institutions, and other stakeholders that support the inventory cycle. Training should include how to use associated open-access guidelines and tools (e.g., Excel spreadsheets) to support Tier 2 waste inventory reporting under the UNFCCC on CAR’s NDC implementation. Identification of methane mitigation measures for the waste sector based on the analysis of the inventory and state-of-the-art technologies and methods Workshops in CAR with relevant stakeholders to build capacity on Data collection and methane/GHG emission calculation for the waste sector in theory and practical examples, using existing tools of CCAC and UN organizations to improve the GHG inventory Waste composition and quantity analysis method and implementation requirements applicable under local conditions Applicable decentralized organic waste management options (e.g., compost, black soldier fly) and the related costs, and climate benefits List of applicable (i.e., locally appropriate) projects on organic waste management with related techniques, costs, methane mitigation target, and finance demand to serve as a basis for further implementation and finance Applicants are encouraged to propose additional outputs as needed to ensure the expected project outcomes are achieved. Eligibility requirements To be eligible for consideration, project proposals must meet the following requirements: The application form is complete and submitted before the deadline All applicants are registered as a nonprofit organisation, non-governmental organization (NGO), or intergovernmental organization (IGO) and are able to prove their status All minimum required outputs are included in the project plan The amount of funding requested falls within the indicated budget range Spending caps on 'incidental procurement' expenses are respected (see guidance document) The project duration is less than 24 months How to apply Eligible applicants are invited to apply before the deadline by downloading the Application Form. Proposals will be evaluated against the following criteria: Quality: the clarity of the proposed outputs and activities and the extent to which they will deliver the expected outcomes Experience: evidence of the project team’s understanding of the national planning process and short-lived climate pollutants, and their ability to deliver the proposed project Value for money: the level of funding requested for project delivery Alignment: how well the proposal demonstrates its contribution to the CCAC 2030 Strategy and National Planning, Policy, and Implementation Engagement Strategy Evaluation process A preliminary review of proposals submitted by the deadline will be conducted by members of the CCAC Secretariat, Funding Task Team and Board, in consultation with relevant CCAC Partners. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to present their proposals in further detail and to respond to follow-up questions about their application. Successful applicants will be invited to develop a Project Implementation Plan and Detailed Budget in consultation with the CCAC Secretariat and relevant CCAC Partners.
