We are pleased to welcome Kathrin Schuller, Program Manager at Smart Freight Centre and Buddy Polovick, Environmental Protection Specialist at US Environmental Protection Agency for a high-level ‘Green Freight 101’ presentation followed by an overview of the Global Green Freight Action Plan.  The presentations will be followed by a Q&A moderated by Brittany Kelly, Senior Policy Advisor, Green Freight Programs at Natural Resources Canada.


 

About the Presenters

About Kathrin

Kathrin joined Smart Freight Centre in January 2023 and is responsible for the management of the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC). Previously, she worked in a global freight forwarding company for 18 years as Quality and later Sustainability Manager. Her background is in project management and operational excellence, with vast experience ESG reporting, carbon emission calculation and implementation of green logistics services.

About Buddy

Buddy has worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for 28 years at the Office of Transportation and Air Quality, Transportation and Climate Division, which is part of EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation.  Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory, Buddy is a Team Leader for the SmartWay Transport Partnership.  Buddy is part of the EPA team who worked with industry leaders to develop and implement this innovative Partnership in 2004.  Prior to SmartWay, Buddy worked to implement in-use vehicle emission testing and compliance programs throughout the U.S.  Before joining the EPA, Buddy served two years in the U.S. Peace Corps as a Community Development Specialist in Mali, West Africa.  His education background includes a B.A. in International Studies and International Relations from The Ohio State University and graduate studies in Environmental and Natural Resource Policy at Michigan State University.  

About Brittany

Brittany has a Master’s Degree in Environmental Economics from the University of Ottawa and has worked with the Canadian Federal Government for the last decade. Since 2015, Brittany has worked with Natural Resources Canada to support the delivery of a variety of clean transportation initiatives, including the Canadian SmartWay program, the SmartDriver training program, and Canada’s new Green Freight Grants and Contributions Program.
