Integrated air quality and climate agenda in Latin America

In celebration of the International Day of Clean Air for blue skies, the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MMA), in partnership with the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC/UNEP) and the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), will host the technical meeting "One Air, One Climate: Latin American Experiences in the Clean Air and Climate Agenda" on September 9, 2026.
The event aims to present the progress of the National Action Plan for Clean Air and Climate for the Reduction of Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCPs) and foster regional experience-sharing among Latin American and Caribbean countries. The in-person program runs from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM and is structured around the following sessions and discussion panels:
  • Morning:
    • Institutional Opening Table
    • Technical Presentation: National Action Plan and Sectoral Mitigation Measures
    • Technical Session: Introduction to the LEAP-IBC Modeling Tool
  • Afternoon (Regional Technical Round Table):
    • Panel 1: Governance and Integrated Sectoral Action in National SLCP Plans
    • Panel 2: Building Evidence for Action (Data, Inventories, Modeling, and Health & Agricultural Co-benefits)
    • Panel 3: From Planning to Implementation (Mobilization and Financing)
The meeting will offer simultaneous interpretation in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, bringing together government officials, international organizations, academia, and civil society.
