Building on the momentum of the World Health Organization’s 2nd Global Conference on Air Pollution and Health, held in March 2025 in Cartagena, Colombia, this panel will explore the critical intersection of super pollutants, air pollution, and public health.

At the Cartagena conference, global health and environmental leaders endorsed a bold target: reducing the health impacts of air pollution by 50% by 2040. This session will carry that ambition forward, emphasizing the urgent need for integrated action on climate and air quality.

Through expert insights and policy perspectives, the panel will highlight the outsized role super pollutants—like methane and black carbon—play in both climate change and local air pollution; the profound impact of air pollution on human health and well-being; the importance of cross-sector and multilevel cooperation—from local to global; and Proven, scalable solutions already delivering cleaner air and healthier communities.
