CCAC National Project Coordinator for Gabon by CCAC - 24 October, 2023 Share SHARE Facebook share Twitter LinkedIn Copy URL Email Print Breadcrumb Home News and Announcements CCAC National Project Coordinator For Gabon Application period: 24 octobre 2023 - 02 novembre 2023 The CCAC is seeking a CCAC National Project Coordinator to strengthen the capacity of Gabon’s Ministry of Forests, Oceans, Environment and Climate Change to coordinate national SLCP planning, policy, and implementation efforts aligned with NDC implementation. The CCAC National Project Coordinator for Gabon will work in close collaboration with the CCAC Secretariat team and focal points at the Ministry of Forests, Oceans, Environment and Climate Change to enhance awareness on national planning and SLCPs, and coordinate national SLCP planning, policy, and implementation efforts aimed at SLCPs and particularly methane emissions reduction. The CCAC National Project Coordinator will also be responsible for development and implementation of SLCP emission and mitigation assessments and projects in key source sectors and fostering inter-ministerial collaboration across governments and engaging important stakeholders at the national level to effectively integrate SLCPs into national planning and to support implementation strategies. The expert will support the development of the CCAC ongoing project [GA-22-002] Gabon - Deliver a methane emissions inventory, mitigation plan and MRV framework for the oil and gas sector and of the upcoming national SLCP integrated planning project. Qualifications/Compétences • Advanced university degree, master or equivalent, in environmental science, economics, politics, international relations or a similar discipline. • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. • At least 7 years of professional experience working in a field relevant to climate change, air pollution, sustainable development or environment and health is required. • Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance to governments and other stakeholders is required. • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholder groups including national governments is required. • Excellent communication skills (written and oral presentations) are required. • Knowledge of the national policies in climate change mitigation and air pollution (National Policy of Climate Change and National Strategy of Air Quality) is required. • A good understanding of short-lived climate pollutants, climate change and air pollution issues in the Gabon is desirable. • Experience working with the LEAP tool, or comparable emission inventory and scenario modelling platforms, is desirable. • Ability to work with advanced formulas in Excel spreadsheet, is desirable. • Knowledge of the methodologies for emissions inventories, particularly the IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse gases (GHG) Inventory of 2006, the AP-42 compilation of air emissions factors, and/or EMEP/EEA air pollutant emission inventory guidebook of 2019 is desirable.
