United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) CCAC Partner since 2020 Breadcrumb Home Our Partners United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) About UNICEF joined the Climate and Clean Air Coalition in 2020 to help address the linked crises of climate change and air pollution as part of its commitment to safeguard children’s rights to a healthy environment. Reducing air pollution and its negative impacts on children’s health and well-being is a priority and a key part of UNICEF’s environmental pollution and climate change agenda. UNICEF has endorsed the framework for the Coalition and strongly urges accelerated action to reduce short-lived climate pollutants, as children are particularly vulnerable to its impacts. UNICEF will contribute its policy advocacy and on-the-ground implementation experience in areas such as child and maternal health, as well as its communications and outreach capabilities. Children’s Environmental Health Collaborative 93 per cent of children globally breathe air that is so polluted it puts their health and development at serious risk every day. The Children’s Environmental Health Collaborative will work to prevent the impact of climate change and environmental degradation from eroding years of critical progress on children’s health. Together we can protect children’s health, development and well-being.
