About

UNICEF joined the Climate and Clean Air Coalition in 2020 to help address the linked crises of climate change and air pollution as part of its commitment to safeguard children’s rights to a healthy environment.

Reducing air pollution and its negative impacts on children’s health and well-being is a priority and a key part of UNICEF’s environmental pollution and climate change agenda. UNICEF has endorsed the framework for the Coalition and strongly urges accelerated action to reduce short-lived climate pollutants, as children are particularly vulnerable to its impacts.

UNICEF will contribute its policy advocacy and on-the-ground implementation experience in areas such as child and maternal health, as well as its communications and outreach capabilities.
