Going forward, we will continue our work across all modes to align green freight programs, such as emission calculation and reporting, target setting, and freight assessments. However, our efforts in capacity building and uptake of technologies give priority to road freight. Road freight contributes to about two thirds of global freight CO2 emissions, and is a major source of local air pollution and black carbon. Road freight also is the main focus of national green freight programmes. Green freight programmes are uniquely placed to scale training of drivers and fleet managers and the uptake of low emission transition fuels and electric road freight vehicles.
