Abstract

Community engagement is an essential part of every air quality monitoring project. Collecting reliable data is only one part of the process. For monitoring to have a lasting impact, people also need to understand the purpose of the project, trust the information being shared, and know how the findings can be used to support healthier communities.

Successful projects involve people throughout the monitoring process. Community
members, host sites, local organisations, researchers, schools, universities, and decision makers can all contribute to your project in different ways.

Navigating This Module

This module can be useful if you are developing a community engagement strategy for a new monitoring project. Teams who have existing strategies can also use this to review their current approach. The stakeholder guidance, communication principles, and impact log provide practical tools for assessing whether engagement activities continue to support the project's objectives.
