Research from the Changing Markets Foundation and Oxford Climate Policy Monitor shows that although agricultural methane remains the world’s largest source of this potent greenhouse gas, regulatory measures continue to be absent in many countries. This is particularly concerning in high- and middle-income countries where high animal protein consumption and production contributes significantly to global emissions, and where lobby groups hold significant influence in policy discussions. As we edge closer to 2030, the Global Methane Pledge goal of 30% reduction of emissions compared to 2020 is unlikely to be met without more ambition across all sectors, including agriculture. The scientific consensus is clear, we must look at all available measures to reduce emissions in the agri-food sector, technical and systemic. Not doing so could leave the EU and the UK at risk of significant food insecurity. Dietary shift is one of the most effective levers to pull the climate emergency brake, yet explicit mention of this is missing from the majority of country NDCs and national policies. This is an invite only event for an in-depth discussion about this sector, its complexities and challenges and the structures which uphold the status quo in the UK and EU’s agri-food systems.  Tags Pollutants (SLCPs) Methane Side event of CCAC at London Climate Action Week 2026 22 June, 2026 - 28 June, 2026 Add to Calendar Google Yahoo!
