This must go hand-in-hand with deep cuts in long-lived greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide (CO2). Fast and immediate action on SLCPs can avoid over half a degree of warming by 2050. There are also multiple non-climate benefits to action. Climate change and air pollution are closely interlinked, so reducing these pollutants not only protects the climate but also promotes clean air. Join our Science Policy Dialogue on September 28-29 to hear from scientists, experts and policy makers about the opportunities and challenges in reducing emissions of HFCs and black carbon emissions and how these actions can put the world on a path to achieve the Paris climate goals. The discussions on Monday, 28 September (14:30-17:30 CET) will look at the solutions needed to reduce HFCs consistent with 1.5°C scenarios under the Paris Agreement and the opportunities to support even more ambitious action. See the agenda and registration details. The discussions on Tuesday, 29 September (14:30-17:30 CET) will focus on black carbon rich sources and the mitigation measures that can deliver near-term climate and air quality benefits. See the agenda and registration details. If you wish to participate in the discussions on either day, please register using the online registration forms for Monday, 28 September and Tuesday, 29 September. The event will also be live-streamed on YouTube.
