The NAMA cafe project

Year
2017

The "NAMA in the coffee sector" project in Costa Rica is supporting the spread of implementation of agronomic best practices in terms of : waste management to create energy through a gasification process, improved composting and organic fertilizer production and wastewater treatments through sprinkler systems onto nitrogen- absorbing native tropical grasses to reduce methane, carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide emissions in coffee production, and improve adaptation to climate change.  The project activities measured the gas emissions from a variety of agricultural techniques in practice on a limited basis, to determine best practices for both productivity and lowered emissions in order to promote greater adoption of these adaptive and mitigating techniques. Funding was not provided for procuring technologies and the objective of the NAMA FACILITY project was to facilitate green financing. Additionnal informations can be found here.
