For the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), such metrics can help standardize the reporting on its activities and actions including in the context of its new Demonstrating Impacts Framework. Metrics would allow for easy quantification of the main impacts and benefits associated with SLCP mitigation, including changes in warming, as well as benefits related to human health, ecosystem structure and function, including agriculture and forest productivity. To support these important objectives, the Science Advisory Panel (SAP) of the Coalition, with the support of the Coalition secretariat, organized a workshop on “Metrics for evaluating and reporting on black carbon and methane interventions” on 16 and 17 March 2017 at Ottawa, Canada, hosted by Environment and Climate Change Canada. Day 1 of the workshop focused on accounting metrics for black carbon and methane, while Day 2 focused on black carbon inventory development. Many of the background documents and presentation materials provided during the workshop are available to download below.
