While nearly every INDC addresses short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) directly or indirectly in the pledged contributions, 15 countries have specifically mentioned SLCPs, air pollution, or relevant mitigation co-benefits in their submissions: Benin; Central African Republic; Chile; Cote d’Ivoir; Ghana; India; Lichtenstein; Mauritius; Mexico; Mongolia; Morocco; Myanmar; Senegal; UAE; and Zambia. In addition, many more countries specifically listed planned or ongoing measures or actions relevant to SLCP mitigation and the initiatives of the CCAC including: 50 focused on capturing and utilizing methane in the waste sector; 25 targeting traditional cookstoves; and, 22 targeting SLCP emissions from agriculture. The CCAC Secretariat, in collaboration with the Institute for Sustainable Governance (IGSD), has prepared an informal and narrative analysis to illustrate how countries have integrated and accounted for SLCPs and air pollution in their INDCs. This informal summary comes out at the same time as the INDC synthesis report released by UNFCCC today, 30 October, 2015.
