This Wednesday, June 5th, World Environment Day 2019 will shine a light on air pollution, its effects on the climate and our health, and the actions we each can take to improve our air.The Coalition is in China this week to promote solutions that address climate and clean air objectives as we continue to rally support for our Action Programme to Address the 1.5C Challenge. In this issue: World Environment Day events around the world; key IPCC decision that will enable further efforts to integrate climate and clean air action; Climate and Clean Air Coalition partners responding to the 1.5C Challenge; new initiative to amplify emission reductions through energy efficiency in cooling appliances News highlights Coalition launches new initiative on efficient cooling at G7 Environment Ministers Meeting At the G7 Environment Ministers Meeting in Metz, the Coalition launched a new global initiative on energy efficient cooling. Multiple countries and organisations have expressed their support. A Global Alliance to Significantly Reduce Methane Emissions in the Oil and Gas Sector by 2030 The Coalition is calling on countries, organisations and companies to commit to reducing oil and gas methane at the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Change Summit. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reaches landmark decision on short-lived climate forcers The IPCC will develop a methodology that will enable countries to achieve integrated emission inventories for short-lived climate forcers (SLCFs) like black carbon and other air pollutants and long-lived greenhouse gases (GHGs). World Environment Day 2019 to focus on air pollution World Environment Day 2019 invites us to consider how we can change our lives to reduce the amount of air pollution we produce. Follow events happening around the world live. Central American Environment Ministers endorse integrated action for climate and clean air Central American environment ministers have called for a “regional action plan on climate and clean air” to address the increasing problems of both air pollution and the impact of climate change.
