Message from the Secretariat

We all share a single atmosphere. And we must take fast and effective action to protect it, both to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement.

To engage and support more countries in increasing their climate ambition, the Climate and Clean Air Coalition Secretariat and partners continue to meet with ministers and leaders under our Action Programme to Address the 1.5°C Challenge.

At the ‘Global Conference on Strengthening Synergies between the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’ in Denmark, our partners Nigeria and Stockholm Environment Institute presented how they have applied the tools and scenarios from the Coalition’s Multiple Benefits Pathway Framework to support national action planning. UN Environment launched the ‘Cool Coalition’ campaign there to rally for increased energy efficiency in cooling.

France has led consultations with all partners to finalize our new CCAC Efficient Cooling initiative, which was approved in principle during the Nairobi Working Group in March.

Our partners are now gearing up for the UN Climate Action Summit. We are working with countries to increase ambition in their Nationally Determined Contributions with additional actions to reduce short-lived climate pollutants such as efficient cooling, oil and gas methane reductions, and climate-smart agriculture.
